My Precious

Question to all of you previously pregnant women out there: Did you take off your engagement ring/wedding band before you went to the hospital? My rings still fit, but I had heard that you really swell at the hospital due to all of the fluids they give you.

Thank ya!

Hmm, I've never heard that one. In my case, my rings didn't fit after 5 months with my 1st and NEVER fit for any of my other 2 kids. I ended up resizing the thing after #3 because I missed wearing it.
I would say don't worry about it. If your ring still fits comfortably, leave it on. Honestly, if your swelling hasn't already caused problems, I don't see how labor and delivery would cause any either.
Good luck, sweetie! Your almost to the finish line and look at the prize you'll have when its over! Blessings to all 3 of you!

I would take it off and leave it at home just simply for safe keeping.

Why? Are you ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL!??!?!?!??! (lol)

I agree with leaving them home for safekeeping. I wore my pregnancy ring which was a less expensive ring in a larger size than my normal one. Because showing up to give birth with no wedding ring? Klassy.

I would leave it at home.

My fingers swelled up terribly within 24 hours of giving birth. Hopefully yours won't, but still...one less than you have to worry about safekeeping.

Congrats! It's getting so close now. Pretty soon, we'll be seeing a baby update on your page.

I have no idea since I haven't gotten to the baby thing yet, but in case you go any time now, I just wanted to tell you how excited I am for you!! Good luck!

You mean for my 5 day early baby? No. I was lucky there was a pack of diapers at the house when I got home.

At the hospital they wanted all jewellery off in my case. For my second baby I did swell up something dreadful and left the hospital weighing MORE than I went in!! I started to sweat it all off a few days later but if your ring means something to you, leave it at home for safekeeping.

I couldn't wear my rings after six months! So, yes, I took them off. And, yes, I highly recommend taking them off before you go to the hospita. Not only because you may or may not swell (I did because I had IV fluid and antibiotics for 48+ hours), but because, unfortunately, there is a risk that they could be stolen.

IMO, best to leave them at home.

How are you feeling, Marianne? This is the hard part of pregnancy...

Can't comment on the swelling thing, but I would leave it at home just so it doesn't get lost.

I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to see Peanut pics. Oh...and I can't wait for the big name reveal. :-)

Maybe someone will give me a ring and /or a baby...

I would leave it at home to protect it from being taken. There are some not so honest people in hospitals, patients and caregivers alike.

I woke up in labor at 4am, and I was not thinking about my rings AT ALL! ;) They did get a little snug with all the fluids during labor, but that went away within 24-48 hours.

I am a nurse and I think there is more risk of things being taken or lost in, say, the ER. L+D/maternity units are much more secure overall, because they have to make sure your BABY is secure too. Plus you will most likely have family with you and you can always give it to them if you need to.

If you plan to leave them at home, I'd just put them away now while you're thinking about it--because like I said, if you go into labor, you probably won't think about it then! :) Best wishes!!

I'd leave it home too--you aren't supposed to wear any metal (including on your bra) just in case you have an emergency C-section. I'm so excited for you!!! :-) (and LIZ!)
