Dining With My Husband

When we were just dating, we had plenty of time for each other. When we first got married, we were euphoric and made time for each other. Wow. Has life changed! Now we're lucky if we exchange a quick peck when he comes in the door!

One thing that we do every night is have dinner together. Every night, the Targo and I eat together and discuss our day at our kitchen table. Of course, Nathan is there. But he's got food, and that's really all he cares about.
This is the time when we can discuss our worries, our thoughts about the future, and just remember that we appreciate each other's company. Some of our best conversations during the past year have taken place over dinner. When your life is super busy and minutes, let alone hours, are difficult to come by - how do you connect?

I think it's a really interesting topic. The fact that you're aware of your limited time together and try to make the most of it is half the battle. At this point in our life, Sweets and I take weekends to tune out. We use the time to get things done around our house that we've been wanting to accomplish and often those moments turn into larger conversations. The point is to take time for you - and you seem to be making it work!

Our lives are boring. AJU1 can't talk about work (classified), and my days are pretty much the same most days. So, it is hard for us to have conversations, as there isn't much to talk about. But, as pp said, when we work on the house on weekends we end up talking and spending some time together.

We experience the same everyday. Last week we agreed on having dinner together once a week when the kids are in bed. I hope we actually do that!
