Milestones, Little Boy Style

With the nice weather we've had (intermittently), Nathan has gotten to play outside a lot more, both at home and daycare. He loves outside and is quickly becoming that kid that would rather be outside than do anything. (That's saying something for as much as this child loves to eat.) The other day when we got home from work, he was so excited to be outside that I let him walk from the garage to our house. His feet just don't move quite as fast as he wants them to go. So, of course, he fell down and got his first skinned knee. He's such a trouper that he didn't even cry.

Nathan's latest thing is climbing on and off stuff. We live on one story, so he has no stairs to climb. He likes to fulfill little boy need by climbing on and off the bed. Well, really, he's too little (he's been trying for a while, but he's short - 10-20th percentile) to do that, so we help him just a bit. On Monday, he officially climbed onto the couch by himself. That's all fine and good, except that he still tries to get off of it head first ... onto the hardwood. Gah.

Another milestone we had this week was a fall where he hit his face on ahem, "something" (a small trashcan he loves to carry around) and it cut his face and gave him a bit of a shiner.

I know this is just the beginning of bumps on the noggin, bruises, and possibly broken bones. But this daredevil, accident-prone nature is what you get with a little boy. Hopefully, we'll be as brave through the aches and pains as he is.

I am surprised we haven't had any big bumps yet. AJU5 is a daredevil too, and it is scary to see some of the things she tries! Hopefully they will grow out of this some soon!
