I'm Sure It's Happened to the Best of Us...

Yesterday morning I fell down the stairs at my in-laws' house. While I was carrying Nathan. Fortunately, the stairs were recently carpeted and had very thick padding. But that's why I slipped. I've slipped down a stair or two EVERY TIME I've walked down the stairs since they replaced the carpeting. But never with Nathan.

I slid down three stairs and managed to keep him in my arms, but he slipped up above my shoulders and bonked his little face on the step above me. He was scared. I was scared. The Targo nearly had to be revived with an AED. Three seconds later we realized he was none the worse for wear --- just a spot of rug burn on his face, but that's only because his skin is made of paper.

It's one of those "Thank God" moments that I just keep rewinding in my head. Like I said, I'm sure this has happened to many moms, but when you're right there, slipping, and hear your baby's head hit the stairs, it's pretty upsetting.

How scary! Good for you for keeping a good grip on the little man!

I seem to always have images running through my head of AJU5 falling down, etc. Luckily, to date, it hasn't happened (she has gotten two bumps on her head from other things though)...
Praise God that both of you survived with nothing more than a rug burn!

That is so scary!! And I think it's every mother's nightmare. I remember Amalah writing about with Noah. Glad everything worked out fine. You will find that kids are more durable than we give them credit for.

Once upon a time my teens were little darlings.... I was getting ready to walk down a small flight of stairs when my daughter (then 18 months old) flipped back in my arm holding her. I dropped what was in my other arm to catch her. Guess what...or WHO...was in the other arm? My 2-1/2 year old son! He fell down the stairs and bonked his head a few times. I do recall screaming out of sheer fear!! To make matters worse, he started vomitting later that day so I took him to the ER as a precaution ~ he was prone to catching everything going around. The doctor looked him over from head to foot and checked for signs of child abuse...I guess. I felt AWFUL, absolutely AWFUL at letting him go to "save" my daughter!! At least you still had a hold of wee Nathan!!!

Oh my gosh! How scary! I am so glad you both are okay. So many bumps ahead. Thank God you're there to kiss them all better!

Ouch! I do think this happens to EVERYONE.

When I was two and my sister was a newborn, my mom was carrying my sister and a stack of library books while trying to keep a hold of me. I ran off into traffic and my mom lunged to grab me and--you guessed it--books and baby went flying.

My sister still turned out okay. :)

SO glad everyone is ok. It's happened to Jojo and me, too. Was your adrenaline like super spiked afterwards? I felt fine until the next day, when my body chemistry returned to normal and the bruises appeared on my back.

be careful, sweetie!!!

I bonk (on accident! gently!) Z's head about once a week. But, stairs would be much scarier. I hope you're ok!

Seriously, you really must have mad grip, yo. :) Glad you're both okay. I imagine that in my gracefulness I will eventually drop a baby or two. :)
