Under the Wire

It's still Sunday in Chicago, so I'm good for Day 4 of NaBloPoMo90210 ... whatever. Rock on.

This weekend has been fairly uneventful, and I'm thankful for that. The Targo and I are pretty much non-stop from next weekend on. We have a lot of travel, a lot of baby classes, and a lot of holidays (like most of you ... um.) during the next few months. A weekend of chilling out is just what this (all-but-dissertation) Dr. ordered.

We just got back from seeing American Gangster. I thought it was pretty amazing. Denzel Washington will always be one of my favorite actors and he looked as pretty as ever. Russell Crowe, on the other hand, was not looking as Gladiator-licious as he once did. Regardless, he was impressive as well. While there were no actual gangsters at the theater we went to, a girl did accidentally spill Icee in my hair. It was a freak accident that requires too much explanation and possibly finger puppets. But it was still gross. And I think it was blue.

In baby news, I've hit my 29th week. Goodness. Seven months and growing strong. I've gained a total of 17 pounds (six in the past four weeks!) and feel like I'm going to break every chair I sit on and not quite make it into every doorway. And also, here's what Baby Center says about this week:

Some old friends — heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion, which in turn can cause ... heartburn ...

The heartburn. My Gah, people. It kills me. Before this past month, I could count on one hand the number of times I've had heartburn. Wow, does it suck.

Heartburn is the worst! I ended up taking something for it because I was sleeping sitting up and going through a bottle of Tums a week!

And all-but-dissertation sucks! I think I'm going to die ABD.

i know! i'd always been like "oh, how bad could heartburn be?" (never having had it before...)

then i was chomping on tums like they were going out of style. at least i ended up really liking the berry ones. because my bones have never had the calcium boost that they did then!

Pregnancy is so glamorous.

(I almost spelled that wrong. Until I sang the Fergie song in my head.)

I've never been pregnant, so I can't comment on the heartburn (although i've heard!) but I can comment on the Denzel. We went to see that as well this weekend, and is it wrong that I liked the bad guy so much more than the good guy?? mmm...Denzel...

Ack!! The pain of heartburn! Oooh, mine was so bad because Lovely Daughter liked to hang out up in my ribs - ouch.

Tums, baby. Tums are a pregnant girl's best friend. :)

PS: Don't forget to vote for Jennie & Derek on Dancing with the Stars tonight, K?

I'm dying to see American Gangster, but my track record shows it will be on video before I do. And not even that fancy DVD kind.
